Dr. Bob Jones III is the chancellor of Bob Jones University
in Greenville, South Carolina. He grew up in a Christian
home and trusted Christ as his personal Savior in his
early high school years. He received a bachelor of arts
and a master of arts degree from BJU. He has taken additional
graduate work at Northwestern University and New York
University and holds honorary doctorates from Pillsbury
Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota; San Francisco
Baptist Theological Seminary in California; and Maranatha
Baptist Bible College in Watertown, Wisconsin.
A third-generation preacher, Dr. Jones has been influential
in Christian education and in the pulpit ministry. He
has served in numerous capacities at Bob Jones University,
including those of speech teacher, assistant dean of men,
assistant to the president, and vice president. He was
appointed president in 1971 and chairman of the Board
of Trustees in 1998, the third to hold these offices since
the University was founded in 1927 by his late grandfather.
He retired as president in May 2005 and was elected chancellor.
He remains as the chairman of the Board of Trustees. Each
year the Bible-believing minister receives more requests
than he is able to fill for evangelistic campaigns, youth
rallies, and other religious gatherings. His speaking
engagements have taken him to all parts of the world.
He is married to the former Beneth Peters, and they have
three children, and six grandchildren.

GREENVILLE, S. C. ...A native of Washington State, Mrs.
Bob Jones III is the former Beneth Peters. She received
the bachelor of arts degree in speech interpretation from
Bob Jones University in 1959. She was then awarded a graduate
assistantship in speech and completed the master of arts
degree in 1961. She has also studied at Northwestern University
in Evanston, Illinois.
A talented actress, Mrs. Jones has directed and appeared
often in the well-known Sunday afternoon Vesper programs
at BJU, as well as on University-produced, nationally
distributed radio programs. In addition to directing productions
for the BJU Classic Players, she has played leading roles
such as Roxane in Cyrano de Bergerac, Katherine in The
Taming of the Shrew, Ophelia in Hamlet, Juliet in Romeo
and Juliet, and Lady Macbeth in Macbeth. She has been
featured in several Christian films produced by Unusual
Films, the University's motion-picture unit. Her latest
role was in Sheffey, the award-winning film about Robert
Sayers Sheffey, a circuit-riding preacher.
The courtship that later led to her marriage to Dr. Bob
Jones III, chancellor of Bob Jones
University, began when Mrs. Jones portrayed Roxane and
Dr. Jones played Christian in Cyrano.
They named their daughter Roxane. The Joneses also have
two sons--Bob IV and Stephen--and
six grandchildren.
Mrs. Jones writes and records the feature Sunshine on
the Soapsuds for the popular
radio program by the same name. Many of these articles
have been compiled into three books, Sunshine on the Soapsuds,
More Sunshine on the Soapsuds, and Lights on Main Street.
She has also written In the Best Possible Light, a handbook
on Christian loveliness; Ribbing Him Rightly!, a book
on Christian wifehood; Words Fitly Spoken, a booklet for
public speaking; and The Wilderness Within, which addresses
a woman's testings in emotions and attitudes. She has
also co-authored With Heart and Hand, a manual for women
in God's service, and Mount Up on Wounded Wings, a book
for Christian women with hurtful home backgrounds. Recently
released is her new video series Patterns for the Christian
Woman.
Mrs. Jones speaks frequently at ladies retreats and seminars
across the country. She is the co-instructor of The Minister's
Wife class at BJU.
